Accounting Assistant and Office Administrator
Finance and Administration
 
Location: Lysaker, Norway
Duration: 6 months temporary (potential to turn permanent)
Position: 80% (4 days per week)
Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis until the position is filled
Start date: As soon as possible
 
The role is predominantly accounting based but will also include elements of office administration.
 
Responsibilities:
 
As an accounting assistant you will be responsible for the financial transactions in Norwegian entities within the Oceanteam Group. This role will support the finance function and more specifically support our Financial Controller. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Processing of accounts payable invoices
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Calculation of accruals, prepayments, depreciation, loan interest, foreign exchange gains and losses and posting of related month end journals
  • Review and posting of payroll journal entries
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns and other reporting in Altinn.
  • Ad hoc reporting to Statistics Norway (statistisk sentralbyrå)
  • Supporting the monthly closing process in the company accounting system for the Norwegian entities
  • Reconciling and documenting all trial balance items for allocated legal entities
  • Supporting finance management in day to day operations and during financial audits 

As an office administrator you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our finance team. These duties will include but not be limited to the following responsibilities:
 
  • Maintaining Norway Legal and Accounting filing and documentation processes (including physical archive)
  • Manage Oslo office running (catering, phones, IT, office supplies etc.) 

Desired background, skills and qualities:
 
  • University degree in Accounting, Business or another Finance related subject
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (New graduates with a relevant educational background and no prior experience will also be considered)
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, standards and processes
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal (English is our working language), Norwegian is a plus
  • Strong desire to learn and attentive to details
  • Works well in a team and has a positive attitude
  • Proactive, able to prioritize and works independently
