KCI is a company firmly rooted in the oil and gas extraction industries. Not only do we come up with full-scale oil and gas extraction concepts, we also guide our customers from development right through to the systems being taken into operation for the first time.

What we do
Mission
Is to be the first choice engineering partner for clients in the upstream oil and gas, complex structures and offshore renewable industries.
Renewable
Description
The development of offshore wind farms means that new methods are required to install foundations and cables on the seabed with more efficiency. To this end, KCI has developed special installations onboard ships which are modified for this purpose. Spools, roller boxes and lifting systems make it possible to lay long stretches of cable on the seabed and install foundations with great accuracy, directly from the ship. KCI has also developed autonomously operating floating platforms, such as transformer platforms, which can be deployed for many other purposes

Energy generated by wind turbines has to be converted and then transported ashore. Due to experience gained in the oil and gas industry KCI has become a specialist in the sub-sea installation of cables and pipelines. KCI has sophisticated in-house developed software to carry out seabed analyses in order to determine the most efficient cable or pipeline routes. These analyses also indentify the type of cable or pipeline to be used. The location of, and manner in which the cables or pipelines are brought ashore is predetermined through a detailed design.
Highlights
KCI generates installations for oil and gas gathering, from the initial design stages right through to the complete field development, in-house. This process comprises all the necessary concept designs, risk analyses, calculations and identification of factors such as the influence of wind and water on production, drilling and installation. To facilitate this, KCI uses the most up to date software, which includes software developed in-house and enables accurate assessments of an installation's technical feasibility and economic yield.
Highlights
Facility Design:
KCI designs components for both the onshore and offshore Oil and Gas industries. This includes Front End Engineering Design (FEED), full Greenfield design and the life extension of Brownfields. All design processes comprise the necessary concept designs, risk analyses, calculations and identification of environmental factors such as the influence of wind and water on the design. To achieve this KCI uses the most up to date software, which includes software developed in-house. This enables an accurate assessment of the installation, fabrication, operation and feasibility of an installation, as well as economic yield. All KCI designs are created to satisfy HSE requirements.

KCI designs specific components for offshore wind farms; for example: foundations, cables and substations. These designs are completed entirely in-house using experience gained in the oil and gas exploration industry. This design process comprises all the necessary concept designs, risk analyses, calculations and identification of environmental factors such as the influence of wind and water on the design. To this end KCI uses the most up to date software, which includes software developed in-house. This enables an accurate assessment of the installation, fabrication, operation and feasibility of an installation, as well as economic yield.

Offshore renewable energy projects are multifaceted.
KCI has all necessary tools and expertise to design a wind turbine farm or parts thereof. The foundations, conversion and transport of the generated energy as well as maintenance, accessibility and visibility of installations to shipping and aviation are equally important. KCI is involved in the development of several offshore substations and foundation structures. Whether concept, FEED (Front End Engineering and Design), detailed design or owners engineering, KCI can provide the required services while taking into account important items like reliability, risk analysis, testing and monitoring. These are the basic components of each design, irrespective of the extent or duration of the project.
