Our Operations Manager:“Managing complex projects in a very limited time frame is quite challenging”
Lars van ’t Kruijs has been Oceanteam Solutions’ Operations Manager since 2014. Four questions about the main responsibilities and the biggest challenges of his job.
What are the main responsibilities of an Operations Manager at OT Solutions?
“There are quite a few, actually. The first main responsibility is to coordinate and execute the planning of activities on a strategic, tactical and operational level together with the Managing Director. I ensure that marine equipment budgets and project budgets are prepared in close consultation. I am also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Oceanteam Solutions equipment base facility activities at Velsen and for the guidance of the offshore operations and assignment within the project team. Lastly I work closely together with the Operations Coordinator to ensure quality, health, safety and environmental procedures are adhered to industry standards.”
What were you doing professionally before this job en how did you come in contact with Oceanteam?
“Before this I worked as a Sales Account Manager at Verhoeven excavators. In short, something completely different - although also in the equipment line.”
What is according to you the biggest challenge in your job?
“In general, managing complex projects in a very limited time frame to the complete satisfaction of our client. An example of such a complex project is for instance the construction planning of a complete installation for cable splicing and jointing.”
What are you most proud of?
“I’m always happy to see the Marine Assets department perform properly. I think our real strength is that whatever the circumstances we are able to communicate loud en clear with various parties such as the customer, the subcontractors and the rest of the Oceanteam organisation.”
